The 333 Story


I was doing a seminar, which ran from Thursday night to Sunday, at the Deerhurst Lodge, which is a resort approximately 100 miles north of Toronto. On the Friday night, a tornado swept through Barrie, Ontario, a town about 40 miles south of Deerhurst. The tornado killed a dozen people and did millions of dollars worth of damage. On the Sunday night, as I was coming home, I stopped the car when I got to Barrie. I got out on the side of the highway and looked around. It was a mess. Everywhere I looked, there were smashed houses and cars turned upside down.

That same night, another gentleman, Bob Templeton, was driving down the same highway. He and I had never met, however, and idea from my seminar was about to bring us together in a lasting friendship. He stopped to look at the disaster, just as I had, only his thoughts were different than my own. Bob was the vice-president of Telemedia Communications, a company which owns a string of radio stations in Ontario and Quebec.

As he stood there viewing the disaster, he thought there must be something he could do for these people (with the radio stations he had). That thought kept returning to his mind that night and all the next day.

The following night, I was doing another seminar in Toronto. Bob Templeton and Bob Johnson, another vice-president from Telemedia, came in and stood at the back of the room. They were evaluating my seminar, trying to decide if I could help their company reach its goals, which I ultimately did. Because of Bob Templeton’s influence, I subsequently worked for the entire Canadian broadcasting industry.

He loved what I was doing in my seminars because it was in harmony with his way of thinking. Bob Templeton’s became fascinated with the laws of the universe, particularly The Law of Polarity or as it is often referred to, The Law of Opposites. This law clearly states everything has and opposite. You cannot have an up without a down, hot without cold, or in without out. By the same token, if you can figure out why something you want to do cannot be done, by law, you must be able to figure out how it can be done. People who accomplish great things are aware of the negative, however, they give all of their mental energy to the positive.

After the seminar, Bob Templeton went back to his office. He told me it was late but this one idea he picked up had him excited. It also had him committed to the idea of raising millions of dollars and giving it to the people who had been caught in the tornado, and he was going to raise the money immediately! Furthermore, he was not remotely interested in why he couldn’t.

The following Friday he called all of his executives at Telemedia into his office. At the top of a flip chart in bold letters, he wrote three 3’s. He said to his executives, “How would you like to raise 3 million dollars, 3 days from now, in just 3 hours and give the money to the people of Barrie?” There was nothing by silence in the room.

Finally someone said, “Templeton, you’re crazy. There is absolutely no way we could raise 3 million dollars, in 3 hours, 3 days from now!”

Bob said, “Wait an minute. I didn’t ask you if we could or even if we should. I just asked you if you would like to.” Bob Templeton was wise; he was appealing to the charitable side of their nature. It was important for those present to openly admit that this was something they wanted to do. Bob Templeton knew that his new idea could show anyone how to accomplish anything they wanted by working with the law.

They all said, “Sure, we’d like to.” He then drew a large T underneath the 333. On one side he wrote, ‘Why We Can’t.” On the other side he wrote, ‘How We Can.’ under the words, ‘Why We Can’t,” Bob Templeton drew a large X. As he placed the X on the flip chart, he said, “Now there is no place to record the ideas we think of which explain why we can’t raise 3 million dollars, in 3 hours, 3 days from now, regardless of how valid they might be.”

He continued by explaining, “When anyone calls out and idea which suggests why we can’t, everyone else must yell out as loud as they can, NEXT. That will be our command to go to the next idea. Ideas are like the cars on a train, one always follows the other. We will keep saying Next until a positive idea arrives.

Bob smiled and continued to explain that, “Opposite the X on the other side of the flip chart, directly under the words, “How We Can,” I will write down every idea that we can come up with on how we can raise 3 million dollars, in 3 hours, 3 days from now.” He also suggested in a very serious tone of voice, that everyone will remain in the room until we figure it out. “We are not only going to think of how we can raise 3 million dollars immediately, after we originate the ideas we are going to execute them!” There was silence again.

Finally, someone said, “We could do a radio show across Canada.”

Bob said, “That’s a great idea,” and wrote it down under, ‘How We Can’.

Before he had it written on the right hand side of the flip chart, someone said, “You can’t do a radio show across Canada. We don’t have radio stations across Canada!” Since Telemedia only had stations in Ontario and Quebec, you must admit that was a pretty valid objection. However, someone in the back of the room, in a rather soft tone said, “Next.”

Bob Templeton replied, “doing a radio show is How We Can. That idea stays.” But this truly did sound like a ridiculous idea, because radio stations are very competitive. They usually don’t work together and to get them to do so would be virtually impossible according to the standard way of thinking.

All of a sudden someone suggested, “You could get Harvey Kirk and Lloyd Robertson, the biggest names in Canadian broadcasting, to anchor the show.” These gentlemen are anchors of national stature in the Canadian television industry. Someone clearly spoke out saying, “They’re not going to go on radio.” But, at that point the group yelled, “NEXT.”

Bob said, that was when the energy shifted; everyone got involved and it was absolutely amazing how fast and furious the creative ideas began to flow.

That was on a Friday. The following Tuesday they had a radiothon, where 60 radio stations, from all across the country, agreed to work in harmony for such a good cause. They felt it didn’t matter who got the credit, as long as the people in Barrie got the money.

Harvey Kirk and Lloyd Robertson anchored the show and they succeeded in raising 3 million dollars, in 3 hours, within 3 business days.

Bob Proctor from The Secret is well known for his understanding of the Law of Attraction. The problem is people still struggled after seeing the secret. Many felt the law of attraction did not work. This is because there are other principles you need to understand to fully realise your dreams and the Law of Attraction. These are the 11Forgotten Laws.

Many people saw The Secret and tried to work with the Law of Attraction. Sometimes they were successful, other times they were not. Why is it that when you think you have worked something out, the Law of Attraction lets you down. This is both a confusing and frustrating situation to be in. These 11 Laws are the underlying principles by which the whole universe is created. They work simultaneously with the Law of Attraction. Once you understand all 11 Forgotten Laws, you can better understand how to best utilise all the aspects of the Law of Attraction. This is where real potential can be realised.

The 11 Forgotten Laws are:

- The Law of Thinking
- The Law of Supply
- The Law of Attraction
- The Law of Receiving
- The Law of Increase
- The Law of Compensation
- The Law of Non-Resistance
- The Law of Forgiveness
- The Law of Sacrifice
- The Law of Obedience
- The Law of Success

Each of these Laws has a specific purpose. When you understand each of them, they combine to allow you to realise that there IS order in the Universe and it is highly predictable. Let me briefly explain each of these Laws.

THE LAW OF THINKING
The Law of Thinking says what is most prevalent in your mind, you become. If you are constantly concerned about the problems in your life, not only will you see more of them, it will distract your mind from creating solutions. You get what you think about.

THE LAW OF SUPPLY
Some may think of this as the Law of Demand. That is, we are always wanting more, we are always expanding. Just like a seed that needs to grow, we are constantly evolving to want more and more.

THE LAW OF ATTRACTION
I don't think this one needs much explaning. The more you have, the more you get. The more you attract, the greater the number of things you can attract to yourself.

THE LAW OF RECEIVING
Receiving is not getting, receiving is graciously allowing something to come to you. Its like a swing. When you push a swing away, it will come back to you at around the same degree as you pushed. The Law of Receiving is about giving to the fullest extent so you can receive to the fullest extent.

THE LAW OF INCREASE
When someone gives you a compliment, how do you feel? If someone continues to compliment your work, do you feel compelled to do it again or even better? This is the Law of Increase. Giving more will allow you to receive more

THE LAW OF COMPENSATION
What you are getting is a result of the efforts you are putting out there. If you want to have better results, you have to think of a new or better way to deliver that value. You must BECOME the person of value to receive anything of value.

THE LAW OF NON-RESISTANCE
If you resist for security, you will never have it. Peace, harmony and joy require that you ARE peace, harmony and joy. Fighting for peace does not create peace. It creates more fighting. The only way to not have conflict is to "go with the flow" and not resist. This does not mean give up, it means do not struggle.

THE LAW OF FORGIVENESS
In many difficult times it is easy to blame others. Even when it is your fault, it is easy to blame yourself. An attitude that takes your vitality and energy never serves. Learn to forgive. Emotionally let go of a situation and just act to correct it. That is the only way forward.

THE LAW OF SACRIFICE
The Law of Sacrifice is about discipline. Everything has a price. Are you willing to pay it to get what you want? Most won't

THE LAW OF OBEDIENCE
In many ways, obedience implies respect. The ability to hold your tounge or action as appropriate to maintain peace and harmony is always more beneficial than disruption. It also means be obedient to the Laws. Work WITH the Laws and they will reward you. Work against them and you will pay the price.

THE LAW OF SUCCESS
No matter what you do, it is a success. You get a result. You may not like the result but it is a result none the less. Working with the Law of Success means acting in a certain way so that success is bound to happen. If not by education, then by experience and persistence. You can achieve more because you are born to achieve more. Do more right things than wrong things and success is inevitable.

Have you ever spent time wondering why many good people continually attract negative situations into their lives while others seem to attract nothing but beautiful situations into theirs. This concept contains power, possibility, and promise if you will use it.

You are God's highest form of creation. You are a living breathing creative magnet. You have the ability to control what you attract into your life. There have always been small select groups of individuals who are aware of how to work in harmony with this natural law of the universe: The Law of Attraction.

This law clearly states you can only attract to you that which is in harmony with you. Everything in the universe vibrates. That is based on the Law of Vibration. That includes your mind and body. Look at your body through a microscope, it is a mass of energy that is moving and vibrating. Your mind controls the vibration you are in at any given moment. You control your mind by the thoughts you choose. No one can cause you to think something you do not want to think. This is where freedom comes in, this is also where the problem begins with most people. They permit what is happening around them to determine how they think. They have become the play-thing for outside forces.

Ninety percent of the population wish positive but think negative. Their negative thoughts puts them in a negative vibration which by law determines what is attracted into their lives. As a creative individual you will continually attract good things into your life by thinking positive thoughts and expecting the best life has to offer. You deserve it.

"How are you feeling?" asked my friendly neurosurgeon Dr. Alex Gol as I lay in my hospital bed in the rehab hospital at 3:30 P.M. after a torturous day in therapy. I could not yet utter a single word after sustaining a severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) at the age of 19. So I nodded as if to say, "OK." Dr. Gol then calmly replied, "That's nice," and quickly left the room with a smile.

As he was leaving I thought to myself, "Dr. Gol...so nice...so calm...so peaceful." I tried to reposition myself in my bed as the door closed behind him in order to get more comfortable, but something was not "right" in the hospital hallway as I heard a great commotion coming from there. (True, I could not yet speak; however, nothing was wrong with my hearing and there was plenty of screaming coming from the hall.) I wondered, "What was the problem?"

I soon found out the cause of the chaos: it was sweet, serene and calm Dr. Gol who was causing it.

As soon as he left my room he erupted: "WHO'S THE NURSE TAKING CARE OF MIKE? WHAT'S HE DOING IN BED SO EARLY? HE'S A 19 YEAR OLD VICTIM OF TBI, NOT A 95 YEAR OLD STROKE VICTIM! GET HIM OUT OF THAT BED, AND I DON'T WANT HIM BACK IN BED UNTIL HE GOES TO SLEEP!"

The nurses had never seen Dr. Gol act like that. In fact, they had never heard him raise his voice. They quickly got me out of bed and put me in my wheelchair until 9 P.M.

I was miserable. I wanted to get back into my comfortable bed - well, it was not so comfortable but it was much less uncomfortable than my wheelchair or any kind of chair, for that matter.

As I said, after therapy was over at 3 P.M. I wanted to get straight back in bed; however, throughout the following weeks and months the nurses did not want to face "the wrath of Dr. Gol." Therefore, after therapy I remained in my wheelchair in my room until I went to sleep. Being in the wheelchair for so long was agonizing!

I hated Dr. Gol after that eventful day when he asked me that seemingly simple question while I was trying to relax in bed. However, years later I loved him as I realized Dr. Gol was only doing what was in my best interest.

When I returned to college after being out for so long, my professors, after learning what had happened to me and realizing that I could no longer read as quickly as before I was hurt, were more than happy to say, "Mike, it's ok. Just read what you can and we'll test you on that material." However, one professor did not say that.

Dr. Sheldon Ekland-Olson, a sociology professor, said, "Mike, I understand you have difficulty reading. I've had many students with many visual problems. For those students, I refer them to "Recording for the Blind." They have access to many textbooks on cassettes. Here's the phone number..."

I "hated" that statement as I wanted to take the "easy way out." (My feelings of "hate" were very similar to those I had for Dr. Gol on that eventful afternoon in the hospital.) However, I have since learned that the "easy way" is quite often the "wrong way."

Sometimes everyone needs a "push." Even I, recently, had to be reminded to push myself as I had gotten "lazy" at the gym. However, a "stranger" reminded me to use my right hand. Even though it was difficult, I thanked him for the reminder.

I have learned that the difficult things in life are often the sweet things in life. One cannot experience "beauty" without experiencing "bitterness." Remember, "push" yourself to "get through the thorns of the rose bush, to experience the beautiful flower of the rose."

Every time I think of some difficult thing in life, I close my eyes, see Dr. Gol,
and smile.
